Summit Academy Mini-forest

Updated: Apr 5, 2022

Part of a garden project begun in 2019

The mini-forest was initiated by science teacher Sarah Thomas as part of a garden project begun in 2019 "as a way for students to receive hands-on lessons in science, enjoy the benefits of gardening and healthy eating, and generate a little income along the way.

'I envisioned the school garden as an interactive outdoor classroom in which students could engage in kinesthetic educational and therapeutic activities, and they could also learn to grow their own foods,' Thomas said" - from Tribune Chronicle, Oct 20, 2020 https://www.tribtoday.com/news/local-news/2020/10/summit-academy-students-dig-in-to-hands-on-learning/
